WE NEED TO FOCUS LIKE A LASER ON THE ELIGIBILITY ISSUE
by Sharon Rondeau

During the summer of 1787, delegates from the states debated how much power the federal government was to be granted(Sept. 2, 2010) — Dr. Kate holds a Bachelor’s degree from Smith College in geology and a doctorate in hydrology from the University of Arizona. She has worked in the field of Indian water rights for the last 30 years. A professional resource manager with substantial legal training, Dr. Kate describes the laws governing Indian water rights as “very complex.” Her role has been to find solutions to water resource problems for Native Americans.

When we asked her if she was an attorney, Dr. Kate told us, “It is just as much of a surprise to me that I could end up on this end and having people think that I’m a lawyer. No, I’m not; I’m just extremely concerned about our country. Fortunately, my training has required me to do a lot of writing. Because I’ve had to have some legal background, at least I know where to look on certain things.”

Mullah vs. Mullah

Ryan Mauro

The in-fighting inside the Iranian regime has become so intense that Ayatollah Khamenei has been forced to give a “serious warning” to the competing factions that they must reconcile. His intervention shows that the regime is now divided against itself and the Supreme Leader has become genuinely worried. It is encouraging to see the regime’s foundations shake, but Iran may now lash out in the hopes of solidifying its ranks against a common enemy. A series of internal rifts have compelled Ayatollah Khamenei to publicly discipline his government. The latest dispute surrounds a man named Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, whose daughter is married to Ahmadinejad’s son. Mashaie was chosen by the President to become Vice President but he was fired by Khamenei last summer. His appointment had caused outrage among hardliners disgusted that he once said that Iran’s conflict with Israel is limited to their government and that the country is a “friend” to the people. Ahmadinejad publicly defended Mashaie and then chose him as his chief of staff.

On August 6, Mashaie got into more trouble after he made comments that appeared to put Iranian nationalism above Shiite Islam. Prominent officials condemned him for allegedly harming the security of the country, essentially calling him a traitor. Two hundred members of parliament signed a letter demanding that he be fired. Ahmadinejad refused to back down and upped the stakes by appointing Mashaie as the special envoy for Middle Eastern affairs.

This follows another clash between Ali Larijani, the Speaker of the Majiles (parliament) and Ahmadinejad. The two have been at odds over domestic policy for some time, with Larijani going so far as to say the country is being ruled by “extremism and delusion.” Their battle escalated when Ahmadinejad’s camp tried to take control of the privately-owned Azad University that is tied to Larijani’s camp, Ayatollah Rafsanjani and other opponents. During the public fight, Larijani called Ahmadinejad and his supporters “vicious, illogical and loudmouths” and Basiji members threatened to set the parliament on fire. Ultimately, the Majiles sided with Larijani.

Amil Imani, an Iranian dissident, told FrontPage that Larijani and other Iranian officials are sensing the rising anger against Ahmadinejad and are positioning themselves to gain politically.

“Ali Larijani and his older brother Mohammed Jawad have moved across the Iranian political spectrum… [they] were considered pillars of the moderate wing in the political spectrum, and the ease with which they changed sides and moved to the conservative bloc was perceived as a case of blatant political opportunism,” Imani said.

The pressure over human rights abuses is also causing a division. The parliament has reported that Saeed Mortazavi, the Prosecutor-General of Tehran during the summer 2009 uprising, was responsible for ordering the torture of at least 147 political prisoners and holding them in inhumane conditions. He and two other officials were blamed for the deaths of at least three specific protestors and were suspended. One of the victim’s attorneys argues that the report opens up the door for Mortazavi to be prosecuted, although it is unlikely Ahmadinejad and Khamenei would allow anything serious to happen to such a loyal servant. Already, Ahmadinejad has named him as the director of an anti-smuggling body.

Moreno describes ‘miracle’ escape from Hamas attacker

BEN HARTMAN AND KHALED ABU TOAMEH
09/03/2010 02:13

Couple wounded in West Bank shooting saved by terrorist’s rifle malfunction which allowed them to hide in roadside ditch.

A husband and wife who were wounded in a shooting attack on Wednesday night in the West Bank escaped death when one of the attackers’ guns jammed and they were able to hide in a nearby ditch.

Ma’aleh Efrayim resident Moshe Moreno told Army Radio on Thursday that he and his wife, Shira, were driving on Route 60 when a car pulled up behind them and began “riding his bumper.” Moreno said he waved to the driver, signaling him to pass, and “then we took a turn and the car passed us and opened fire.”

The terrorists sprayed the car with automatic rifle fire and the vehicle spun out of control, overturning on the side of the road.

The attackers approached the car when suddenly, amid the hail of gunfire, one of their rifles malfunctioned, and the Morenos were able to escape.

“One of the guns jammed and we took the chance to roll out of the car and take cover,” Moshe said.

The Morenos hid in a ditch and called police, who rushed to the scene to search for the assailants.

Moreno added that he and his wife, who was lightly wounded, were lucky that the shooting took place as they were driving on an incline, saying that if the gunmen had attacked as they were heading downhill they would probably have plunged off the road to their deaths.

Speaking from his hospital bed, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder, Moreno told Channel 2 that as the gunmen passed his car they “opened fire from, at most, one meter away. Luckily, I was only hit in the shoulder.”

The incident was the second in two days in the West Bank, both claimed by Hamas. In a terror attack outside Kiryat Arba on Tuesday night, gunmen riddled a car with bullets, killing four residents of the settlement of Beit Hagai.

Moments after that shooting, paramedics rushed to the scene, including Zaka rescue and recovery organization volunteer Maimon Even-Haim, whose wife, Kochava, was among the four victims.

Even-Haim’s friends in the rescue unit tried to keep him from reaching the car where his wife lay mortally wounded, but he could not be swayed.

Speaking to Channel 2 on Wednesday, Even-Haim said, “She looked so beautiful, so pure. I kept telling her, I’m here, I’m here, but she didn’t move.”

Even-Haim said his colleagues told him his wife died instantly, but when he arrived he could tell that “she didn’t. I saw her face and could tell she didn’t die right away.”

A Palestinian Authority security source said on Thursday that its men had seized the car used in the Beit Hagai attack.

The source said that the car was found in Hebron and that the PA security forces were now questioning several suspects linked to the vehicle.

The source refused to comment on reports that the PA has arrested two men suspected of involvement in the attack.

The PA security forces have arrested more than 300 Palestinians from different parts of the West Bank since the attack.

The crackdown has been described as the largest security operation by the PA since its inception.

Hamas, however, announced that the number of those arrested by the PA in the past 48 hours had reached 550. It said another 1,500 Palestinians suspected of affiliation with Hamas had been summoned for interrogation by the various branches of the PA’s security services.

Hamas said that the detainees included prominent political figures, physicians, engineers, university students, former security prisoners who were released from Israeli jails, and relatives and friends of Hamas legislators living in the West Bank.

Eyewitnesses told The Jerusalem Post that the Fatah-dominated security forces also rounded up dozens of worshipers as they emerged from mosques following evening prayers in many cities and villages.

ANOTHER ‘O’ WHOSE TIME HAS COME…VOTE THIS CAREER POLITICIAN (ORRIN HACK) OUT UTAH!…

Orrin Hatch Backs Ground Zero Mosque

Wednesday, 01 Sep 2010

Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch says that the mosque and Islamic center being planned for an area near ground zero should go forward. In throwing his support for the so-called “ground zero mosque,” the conservative Utah Republican has put himself at odds with many in the GOP who generally feel that the site should be moved.

But in a local television interview over the weekend, Hatch said developers have the right to build the proposed Park51 Islamic center, which includes a mosque, two blocks from the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, The Hill reported.

“If the Muslims own that property — that private property and they want to build a Mosque there, they should have the right to do so,” said Hatch, who is a Mormon. “The only question is, are they being insensitive to those who suffered the loss of loved ones? We know there are Muslims killed on 9/11, too, and we know it’s a great religion.”

The Utah senator acknowledged that public opinion is against building the Islamic center, but he said that should not play a role in the final decision.
“That should not make the difference if they decide to do it,” he said, adding that, “I’d be the first” to defend its construction.

Md. Judge Denies Request For Obama School Records

FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) ― A military judge in Maryland has refused to order the release of school records that could include a copy of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

The documents were sought by an Army doctor, Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, who is being court-martialed for disobeying a deployment order because he doubts Obama’s qualifications to serve as commander in chief.

The judge ruled Thursday that those records and any other evidence or witnesses pertaining to Obama’s birth are not relevant to the case and will not be admitted. Prosecutors have argued that Obama’s birth certificate shouldn’t be part of the case, especially since the order for Lakin to deploy to Afghanistan didn’t come directly from the president.

Lakin’s lawyer has argued that if Obama isn’t a natural-born citizen, any military order given under his administration is unlawful.

Living Peacefully With Islam

Burning of the uss philadelphia.jpg

"We, the German Führer …, and the British Prime Minister, have had a further meeting today … We regard the agreement signed last night …as symbolic of the desire…never to go to war with one another again. … and we are determined to … remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Europe.”  – Neville Chamberlain several months prior to the beginning of WWII

Appeasement can absolutely work; you can get along with anyone and live in peace and harmony with them as long as you do not care about right and wrong, and do not mind being subjugated. Our Western puritan sensibilities say that two rational groups of people can meet and agree on things in a civilized manner; but you cannot deal rationally with an irrational person or group.

To be totally fair, not all, or even most, or even a majority of the followers of the religion and polity of Islam are AK waving-wild eyed-bomb throwers; the problem is the moderate rational, peace loving, moderate Muslims ARE NOT IN CONTROL. There were many Germans who did not participate or condone, and in fact condemned the actions of Hitler; there were multiple assassination attempts made by those in the German military, but those were not the voices in control of Germany at the time.

Our problem as a nation is that we see the Religion of Islam as separate from the countries that it RULES.  Islam is both a religion and a political force.  It is a spiritual philosophy and a political one.  It goes against virtually everything this country stands for.  Womens Rights, Equal rights, tolerance, & freedom of worship. More incredibly we have the liberal left championing a religion (which has to be a first all by itself) that is opposed to almost all of its’ own aims.  Islam is against womyn’s rights; homosexuality, abortion, birth control, and separation of church and state.  Yet, the liberal hand wringers have tied themselves down with political correctness and support the appeasement of Islam in ways that are completely counter to its usual aims.  We say Men and Women are equal, and in some liberal schools this has been taken to the extreme of co-ed bathrooms, yet the left champions Muslim attempts to segregate students based on gender in education.  The liberal left endorses the idea that we should not be uptight with the overt sexualization our children to the point that pedophiles feel safe in some of our states because of lenient courts/ and is in step with the Islamic notion of wearing a full veil and making accommodations to sports uniforms for modesty sake.  It is to the point that in some cases when a Muslim woman comes up dead the news won’t report on it out of respect of the Muslim tradition of honor killing.

I do not have a problem with a woman feeling she has to wear a veil; I do have a problem with Muslims changing my way of life.  I do have a problem with allowing them to kill their wives and rape their daughters and not be punished for it.  I do have a problem with the notion that on the site of our nations second most deadly foreign attack we are seriously debating allowing the building of a place of worship to honor the ideology that caused the deaths of over 3000 of our fellow citizens.

And so in a very real sense we must come to grips with the truth; a Religion is at war with our way of life.  In our history we have fought nations; meaning we have fought adherents to a political movement tied principally to land claimed by that polity.  But Islam stretches across lines on a map, because it is a set of ideas.  And it is at war with us and has been for a very long time.  We have only very reluctantly fought against it and never had the stomach for outright war with it, because it does not have a regular army and does not play by Geneva convention rules.  I suspect another reason is our continual and persistent view that it is ONLY a religion and of our long held principle of freedom of religion.  To go to war against a religion goes against our very nature.

I do not want to go to war with all adherents of Islam; in fact I advocate annihilation only of those who wish to kill me for my beliefs.  But I am strong in that opinion; because they will not stop, because they cannot be dealt with rationally.  They cannot be dealt with rationally because they do not share much, if any, of our worldview. In a time when Obama is riding high because of the renewed peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel, we should remember our own history, but we are not taught of the Barbary wars, which created the US Marines, coined the term leatherneck, and led to the marine hymn line “…to the shores of Tripoli”.   More on that later…

The only way for us to live peaceably with Islam is for either a) the true moderate Muslims to repudiate all policies of aggression towards ‘infidels’ and remove the radicals from power, which is highly unlikely since war with infidels is called for in the Quran and they believe that it is infallible; or b) we remove their will and ability to hurt us through the only thing the whackos understand…violence.

For the proof they are at war with us, click here all but a handful are by radical adherents to Islam.

2010 Midterms: Scott picks Carroll in Gov. Race

Rick Scott (R) announced who his running mate would be today in our strongly contested gubernatorial contest today. He chose Jennifer Carroll (R) Jacksonville. Jennifer Carroll.
(From TBO.com)

TALLAHASSEE – GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott named state Rep. Jennifer Carroll as his running mate this morning.

Carroll, 51, hails from the Jacksonville area and is the first black Republican woman elected to the Legislature; she is the only black Republican currently serving. If successful in the November election, she would be the first black woman ever to serve as Florida’s lieutenant governor.

A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, she was formerly executive director of the state Department of Veterans Affairs. President George W. Bush also appointed her to the White House Presidential Scholars Commission and the Veteran Disability Benefits Commission.

Carroll legally immigrated to the United States from her native Trinidad – a fact that could help ease tensions between Florida’s immigrant community and Scott, who has taken a hard line on immigration law enforcement.

First elected to the House in 2003, she has served as deputy majority leader and as majority whip, though overall she has maintained a relatively low profile as a lawmaker.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico and holds an MBA from Saint Leo University.

From my perspective, this is a game changer. I have never been exactly “fond” of Scott. However, he demonstrated excellent judgement in picking Carroll. She has an excellent pro-liberty voting record during her time in the FL Legislature. She also brings experience and a distinguished Military service record to the table. For me, this has had a “Palin effect” change of mind about the Scott campaign. I was one who strongly disliked McCain and didn’t decide to vote for him for Prez until he picked Palin in 2008. (For the record I would not have cast a vote for BHO but would have voted libertarian if at all) If there was anyone that as Lt. Governor that would keep Scott away from corruption or otherwise step down, it’s Carroll. I was going to have to not vote for Gov. as rather than vote for Scott before this. His opponent Sink claims to favor small business and spending as well as tax cuts, but also supports much of the BHO agenda. Sorry, but anyone who supports Obamacare (including a national single payer marxist health care system) is either stupid or dishonest and we need neither as Governor here in Florida. The most recent Rasmussen Poll has Scott and Sink in a statistical dead heat.

Who Do You Work For?

Apparently Lieutenant Fran Healy of the Philadelphia Police Department has forgotten who he and the rest of the department work for. They work for us, not the other way around.

“Officers’ safety comes first, and not infringing on people’s rights comes second.”

-Lt. Fran Healy

Sorry Mr. Healy, but if your officers are breaking hte law and infringing upon people’s rights that delegitimizes the entire police force. I understand Healy’s point about officer safety, but if you read the article you’ll see that what we have here is a systemic problem within the Philly police department where the cops are acting like thugs.

Healy says,

“There’s a lot of bad guys out there, “I want to use my time on them and not waste it on this nonsense.”

OK, then don’t waste your time by harassing, arresting, and abusing people who have committed no crimes. Only 1 of the 9 victims in the incidents mentioned actually broke any laws. The only people breaking the law here are the police. If you don’t want to waste time on this “nonsense” then quit violating civil rights. That should be simple enough, no?

These “settlements” the city is offering aren’t worth a damn thing. The cops treated these men in a manner that would get a private citizen thrown in jail for some time if they’d committed the same acts. The settlements are insulting, they’re “shut up and go away” payouts that’ll do nothing to change the attitude or behavior of Philadelphia’s finest.

If the cops arrested me, took my gun and permit, interrogated & detained me for 14 hours and then refused to return my property I know exactly where I’d tell them to put their $3,500 settlement offer.

Also, the Florida “loophole” is not a loophole. It simply allows Philadelphia residents to get a Florida non-resident permit and use that to carry in Philadelphia. Given that Philadelphia routinely revokes permits for reasons that have no relation to violent criminal activity it makes sense to obtain a FL permit and continue to carry. That’s what I’d do if my permit was revoked over failure to pay a few parking tickets.

Hey, California school-age Parents-did you know…?

Summer’s over and here comes the rush.

“…history textbook that gives disproportionate positive attention to Islamic fundamentalism. It has 5 chapters that disgracefully present a pseudohistorical narrative of Islam, conveniently ignoring any of its offensive realities that children must know and be careful about, like jihad inspired terrorism, sharia’s repression of women, and Islam’s intolerance of Jews and Christians. It covers one full chapter on the Prophet Mohammed and not even a paragraph on Jesus.” Most kids we know are busy preparing for another exciting year at school, shopping for uniforms and supplies, thinking that the world is a happy place. What about the children in Pakistan and Yemen and Gaza? The ones who have been or will be lured by terrorists, drugged, sexually and mentally abused, and recruited for terrorism and murder?

Why is the world painfully silent while children in Muslim countries are being engaged to be soldiers and suicide bombers? Where is the global outrage that in the 21st century kids are being sacrificed for horrifically perverted ideals excused by a violence-prone religion?

And what are we teaching our precious children? The California State Board of Education authorized and recommended an outrageous so-called history textbook that gives disproportionate positive attention to Islamic fundamentalism. It has 5 chapters that disgracefully present a pseudohistorical narrative of Islam, conveniently ignoring any of its offensive realities that children must know and be careful about, like jihad inspired terrorism, sharia’s repression of women, and Islam’s intolerance of Jews and Christians. It covers one full chapter on the Prophet Mohammed and not even a paragraph on Jesus.

Click on the below articles for more details– and think about what you can do to change the situation. Write a letter to the United Nations and Red Cross protesting radical Islam’s abuse of children. Email California’s Board of Education demanding they use a balanced and accurate textbook not tainted by Islamic supremacy. And while the terror-linked mosque debate still boils, take action and be sure to rally in protest! Also, see and share the below video clip featuring an exclusive interview with former PLO terrorist Walid Shoebat about the monster mosque at Ground Zero.

The Obama Doctrine

Heritage Foundation

Aside from the wooden performance, there was nothing particularly noteworthy about President Barack Obama’s Oval Office address on Iraq last night. The President again evinced the impression that he viewed Iraq as a distraction, and he twice said he wanted to “turn the page” to other issues. As forgettable as the address was however, once placed into the broader context of foreign policy speeches and actions, a clear Obama Doctrine can now be defined, as James Carafano and Kim Holmes do in a new paper released today.

Downplaying American Sovereignty: The Administration is pursuing an ambitious agenda on international treaties. An incomplete list includes: the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) with Russia; the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT); the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (LOST); the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW); and the Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space (PAROS). The ideals behind many of these treaties are admirable. But in every case the onus is on the Administration to ensure that the treaty does not compromise America’s security or the rights and freedoms established in the U.S. Constitution. International institutions work best when they manage affairs between nations; they falter and become harmful when they reach into the domestic affairs of nations.

But that is exactly what the Obama administration has been doing. Just last week the White House submitted its “Report of the United States of America” to the U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC), a body that includes such human rights exemplars as Cuba, Russia and Saudi Arabia. In the report, the Obama administration attacks Arizona’s recent immigration enforcement law and portrays its law suit against it as a defense of human rights. Is there a better example of what little interest this Administration has in upholding American sovereignty? There is no universal right to violate a country’s immigration laws with impunity. It is no violation of human rights to enforce border security and basic immigration requirements. When the Obama administration engages international institutions, it appears that E Pluribus Unum gets thrown under the bus.

Soft-Pedaling American Power: The belief that the United States over-utilized hard power in Iraq and Afghanistan has shaken President Obama’s confidence in the application of hard power at all. Instead, the President intends to use soft power so as to appear more equal at the negotiating table. Shortly after taking office in January 2009, President Barack Obama said “[if] countries like Iran are willing to unclench their fist, they will find an extended hand from us.” And how has this soft-power approach fared? French President Nicolas Sarkozy recently said: “We live in the real world, not a virtual one… President Obama himself has said that he dreams of a world without nuclear weapons. Before our very eyes, two countries are doing exactly the opposite at this very moment… I support America’s ‘extended hand.’ But what have these proposals for dialogue produced for the international community? Nothing but more enriched uranium and more centrifuges.”

The reality is that soft power only works as an adjunct to hard power. Saddam Hussein’s removal from power eliminated any possibility of a major threat from Iraq for the foreseeable future. And while Afghanistan remains an open question, only the anti-war left believes the Taliban can be persuaded to lay down their arms with promises of aid and diplomacy. Any time an American leader believes soft power is a substitute for hard power, he is bound to fail.

A More Restrained America: President Obama has made no secret of his ambivalence toward American military power. At his nuclear summit in Washington, he said: “Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower.” The President’s take-it-or-leave-it attitude toward America’s defenses has been reflected in his spending priorities. He cut funding for the F-22 fighter jet and key missile defense programs. His defense procurement budget is anemic, he has refused to modernize our nuclear deterrent, and his Administration even proposed terminating the development of the next generation Navy Cruiser with missile defense capabilities. The force structure Obama is projecting simply cannot sustain existing U.S. security commitments. Military power is not only about fighting wars; it is also about others’ perception of whether you have the means and will to defeat aggression. The perception of American weakness is a destabilizing force throughout the world.

A More Humble America: Since his first month in office, President Obama has embarked on a whirlwind Apology Tour casting himself as the redemptive vessel for the entirety of America’s past sins. Apologizing for things that happened in the past may gain popularity abroad, but so far, it has done little to change minds about our policies. If anything, it has portrayed a weaker United States not only to our allies, but to adversaries striving to gain any advantage over us. The repercussions could be grave—and here, history also provides an example. Not long after President Jimmy Carter apologized for America’s supposedly excessive fear of Communism, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and the hard-liners revolted in Iran, taking Americans hostage.

Carter is not the only past president whom Obama is emulating on foreign policy. President Obama’s true foreign policy predecessor is President Woodrow Wilson, who also sought a more “ethical” foreign policy and sought to rely on a “concert of nations” to keep the peace. Wilson’s idealistic approach failed to stem the tide of World War I and helped to foster the isolationism of the 1920s and 1930s that inadvertently eased the road into World War II.

There is a better foreign policy vision. It is a vision that is grounded in George Washington’s first State of the Union address reminder that: “To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.” It’s a vision that is consistent with the Monroe Doctrine ideal that America is committed to the principles on which republican self-government is based. It’s a vision that embodies the Truman Doctrine’s support for peoples threatened with Communist aggression. And it’s a vision that continues the Reagan Doctrine’s “peace through strength” strategy of revitalizing the U.S. military while promoting economic growth at home and increasing support for oppressed people around the world. What all these lines of thought have in common is that America is an indispensable nation in the defense of liberty around the world.

The Obama Doctrine points us in the opposite direction. It will force friendly nations to look elsewhere, not to Washington, for arrangements that bring them greater security. And that will make this a far more dangerous world indeed.
